Fans of Las Vegas’ favourite Metalheads Five Finger Death Punch have been treated well over the last few years with the band hitting both a fine vein of creativity and also getting the music out there with frightening regularity.

So here we are only a short 18 months after the double instalment of ‘The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell’ with another slab of Metal mayhem in ‘Got Your Six’. As you might expect from the band it’s another you’ll either love or hate…

This time the best comes upfront with the searing title track ‘Got Your Six’ and one of the standout tracks ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ – the first song is just typical FFDP – big riffs and aggressive vocals - and will please the converted, but it’s ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ that ups the ante (check out the video) – it’s loud, rude, and crude and seemingly designed to piss off the haters and give a big finger to critics!

Lyrically of course FFDP have always been rather one-paced and not particularly inventive but I always feel that misses the point, bands like FFDP aren’t here to make philosophical statements or  gaze at their shoes, they’re there to fire you up and fight the world in a comic-book sort of way.

Best of all here are probably ‘Wash it All Away’ – hard but with the melody and chorus capable of smashing the mainstream; there’s also the two huge fight songs ‘No Sudden Movement’ and closer ‘Boots and Blood which seek to rip your head off!

I last saw FFDP here in Florida a few months back and they kicked ass. I don’t expect that there will be any new conversions with this new album, but the already decided have another great collection to annoy the neighbours with. I just can’t wait to see them play ‘Boots and Blood’ live!
