Saint Diablos first album had something, as did the second, and as ‘Devil Horns and Halos ‘ opens up with its detuned riffs and spat-out vocals you realise they’ve lost none of the power, though the tendencies towards more Melodic Metalcore is still very much with us.

This hits hard both vocally and through impossibly low-tuned guitars and tracks like ‘Survive This’ kick serious ass. Sonically it’s a heavy record with a few Progressive tendencies, smatterings of Hardcore and a great knack of creating a tune that sticks.

Best here has to be the opening salvo of title track, ‘Survive This’ and ‘Meet My Maker’ before the Spanish lyrics of ‘Dark Horse’ add another dimension. At the end of the day if it has a flaw it’s that after that impressive opening things pretty much have run their course – the remainder of the album is pretty much the same story – great if like us you love that sound, but as variety goes there are no more strings to the bow, not that it really matters if you are hooked like we were by that opening trio.

Nice and heavy just like we like it…
