Loud raucous rock and roll never goes away and Rolling knows how to let it all hang out with an EP that channels a Bluesy Hard Rock deity by way of Hendrix, Punk, Rockabilly and Motörhead.
If you are looking for subtlety then look away, this is meant to be played loud and opener ‘Whore’ is just that, a beautiful loud mess that starts off by kicking ass and ends up kicking just as hard.
Variety (as well as some well written songs) though is the key ‘to Rolling’s appeal: Help Me’ is more laid back, resting on Blues and a little laid back groove whilst ‘My Redemption’ has the same dose of blues but far more energy and hard rock bite.
But for us it’s the closers that just take the prize – the swinging Blues rock of ‘Vampire Blues’ may be traditional but it’s so damned cool, and the Rockabillly element to closer ‘Janet Says Go Go Go’ just leaves you wanting to hear more.
For fans of Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Stevie Ray Vaughn who also like a bit of Motörhead and Hendrix.
