Ginn – One Man’s Army (30th Anniversary Edition)

SELF-RELEASED - 2016

Originally released in 1986 and re-released this year on its 30th Anniversary Scott Ginn’s ‘One Man Army’ still sounds damned good today. Indeed find me a Hard Rock album from any continent from 1986 that sounds this good.

If you like your Hard Rock well-written and with great melodies just check out the openers: ‘Torment In Tehran’, ‘One Hand Held High’ and ‘Watching The Lines Go Down’ are all great hooky hard rock songs dripping with melody. That of course is just the start – tracks like ‘Heartbeat City Blues’, ‘Hellraiser’ and original album closer ‘Heart Attack’ are just as good.  Seriously if you hail from outside Australia and love Hard Rock of this vintage and think you’ve heard all the good stuff you need to check this Independently released gem out.

The fact that Scott Ginn played all the instruments, sang all the songs, and produced and engineered the whole album is all the more remarkable.

The 30th Anniversary release sees all the original album tracks remastered and the inclusion of two bonus tracks (contemporary to this recording) in ‘Somebody to Love’ and ‘Heart of Steel’ (neither of which are covers).
