There’s a gentle Spanish style guitar in ‘Calm Before’ that welcomes you to In The Now’s debut album ‘Daggers and Dice’ and it works so well up against the Hard Rocking ‘Trigger’ that acts as the real HELLO WORLD!
If you like your Hard Rock hard-hitting and with an Oz Rock flavour influenced by bands such as AC/DC, Rose Tattoo and even W.A.S.P. and Gun ‘n’ Roses then these guys are worth checking out.
With some fierce guitars and very Metal vocals In The Now might not break any new ground but they more than get you moving. ‘Trigger’ is hard rocking and blood pumping fun and to be honest so is a lot of the rest – it’s a relentless ride through hard rock hell and it doesn’t let up.
‘The Sinner’ has you thinking of Rose Tattoo by way of Motörhead and the title track has more than a hint of old school Metal before first single ‘Suicidal Honey’ hangs on a great AC/DC-style hook.
The rest of the album is equally adept at getting that old head banging whether its the W.A.S.P. – like vocals and rattle of ‘Fire’ or the dirty groove of ‘Don’t Wanna Fall’ or even the fist-pumping action of ‘Rebel 4 Rock N’ Roll’.
The only slight respite comes at the end, beginning with the longest song on the album ‘The Music Won’t Die’ which clocks in at over 6 minutes and has an epic almost seventies rock feel to it, and sports some fiery guitar; that’s followed by the atmospheric run-out of ‘Aftermath’ which isn’t really necessary and a nice addition of the radio edit of ‘Suicidal Honey’.
