Looking at the cover you might be thinking Symphonic Metal but Innerwish is distinctly, unapologetically old school Metal. Power, speed, fist waving and grand hand gestures come to mind whilst listening to the powerful, flowing opener ‘Roll the Dice’.
5 albums in these Greek warriors have hit a comfortable stride and their blades are sharper than they may have been in the past. New vocalist George Eikosipentakis (the band’s third screamer) sounds suitably impressive as does the crystal clear sound here.
Sure it’s Metal like you’ve heard it so many times before but the band sounds like they mean it, the songs are good and if you love your Metal this one will definitely bear repeated listens.
Best of all are perhaps are the fact that on this album Innerwish go for it hard – and with 13 songs almost two hours of music it’s a huge undertaking and the twin guitars sound so good.
Our favourites include the epic ‘Rain of A Thousand Years’; the crunching ‘Sins of The Past’, and the gentler ‘Needles In My Mind’ the latter a song that really is the melodic light amongst the shade of Innerwish’s canon; and which is later backed up by the purely acoustic ‘Cross the Line’.
The rest of the album is all power and bluster and works well, there’s even a nod to Maiden in closer ‘Tame the Seven Seas’. Classy old school Metal that will appeal to any lover of the hard stuff.
