Five years is a long time between drinks and few know it better than Melbourne punk troubadour Chasing Ghosts. 2011 saw the release of Confessions From A Phone Booth, an unexpectedly intimate record from the hardcore music scene’s stalwart Jimmy Kyle and to follow it up in 2016 a new aggrandized Chasing Ghosts presents the long awaited sophomore I Am Jimmy Kyle. We spoke to Jimmy about the new songs, the long wait between albums, touring and tattoos!
Jimmy: With this record I guess there was a whole bunch of things that I didn’t get to do on the first record. I wanted to write a more personal record, something that was darker. I wanted to use a beautiful, real grand piano and I really wanted to embellish the strings and have a full string section so we used a 6 piece string section and I wanted to take all the great things I had learned from the last record and replicate them and exacerbate them.
