Pollard Row is a post-metal trio based in Adelaide, Australia. The band’s artistic outreach is to invite listeners into a texture of sound, flowing from warm melodies to heavy passages of music, all held
together by strong emotional energy.
Ever feel like you’re losing your mind? NILMM explores the grey zone between perception and reality where our deepest anxieties manifest and coalesce. The sonic textures are a direct reflection of the song’s subject and progress from dark but still guitar moments to crushing intensity and drive.
Rich Kleinig (guitar/vocals) set in motion the music for Pollard Row while living in a converted church in the East End of London. The mood of that era during the cold, dark English winter, along with intriguing sometimes uneasy observational moments of life lead to the early Pollard Row demos, as far back as 2008.
The inspiration to start a band was immediate upon returning to Adelaide in 2013. Connecting with drummer Ian Reid through an advert placed in an online classified, and then in 2014 reaching out to an old band mate, Sam Thomas (bass), the trio was realised. This lead to the band locking down in a rehearsal room to work with commitment and passion on the music that would become the Pollard Row EP.
During that initial development period, the band maintained a low profile creating and shaping their sound and performance dynamics. In 2016 the band made their first live appearance whilst in the process of recording the Pollard Row EP with Hugh Atkinson in Hahndorf, a process worked through over a handful of weeks. The scenic setting proved to be appropriate for the musical landscapes explored.
Pollard Row’s debut self-titled EP was released on 02 February 2017. The band has been making appearances performing their music in the live setting to promote the EP, while setting the early founda7ons for new material.
