ALBUM REVIEW: Lionville – A World of Fools

Frontiers Records - February 24th 2017

Three albums in Lionville has found a home with Frontiers Records and released what is probably their best album to date. Mixing Melodic Rock with AOR and a laconic take on Westcoast they draw on the likes of Toto, Richard Marx, Giant, Bad English, Survivor, and Boulevard amongst others.

Started by Stefano Lionetti, a songwriter, singer, and guitarist based in Genova, Italy, his brother Alessandro and singer Lars Säfsund (Work Of Art), Lionville quickly began to take shape and released two acclaimed albums in 2011 and 2012. ‘A World Of Fools’ sees a maturity and creativity that’s bound to impress fans of the genre.

Best of the bunch here are the Melodic Journey-like charm of opener ‘I Will Wait’; the Toto-like ‘Our Good Goodbye’ ; the smooth AOR of ‘Show Me The Love’ and the building ballad ‘Heaven Is Right Here’. Along the way there’s plenty of other sounds to catch your attention like the gentler tones of ‘One More Night’ or the silky smooth melodies of album closer ‘Image of Your Soul’.

A must for fans of the lighter side of Melodic Rock and AOR.
