With under a month until the Thrash, Blast and Grind mini-festival tour hits the highways, tickets are understandably selling fast. The news that Sydney’s Black Rheno have been invited to showcase at SxSW 2017 will push things along.
Proudly a part of the most thrilling antipodean metal line-up for years, BLACK RHENO are Sydney’s newest heavy groove exponents. They roared on to the scene late in 2015 with a unique sound coupled with an insatiable work ethic. A scorching debut EP ‘Let’s Start a Cult’ (which scored 9.5/10 Heavy Mag) and subsequent hysterical video release saw them stripping the tyres off their tour van tearing up and down the east coast throughout 2016. 2017 will be no different; with the band invited to showcase at the prestigious SXSW festival in Austin, Texas in March, on their maiden overseas voyage. An incredible feat for a band just over 12 months old!
Meanwhile, grind mainstays and all-round great guys KING PARROT utterly destroyed their slot on the opening night of the sold out UNIFY festival in Gippsland over the weekend, further solidifying their place amongst local metal royalty.
Also featuring the dominating sounds of Psycroptic, Revocation and Whoretopsy, the Thrash Blast and Grind Tour is a lengthy, landmark heavy music event that will define summer for swathes of stoked fans. Look lively. Tickets on sale now via directtouring.oztix.com.au
