Brutalcoustic: Heavy Metal And Acoustic Folk Combine In This Celebration Of Musicality On The Alternative Fringe.

The Basement, Belconnen ACT, is hosting Brutalcoustic, Friday June 16 featuring: Canberra progcoustic trio Silentia, Sydney’s acoustic metal/Celtic folk troubadour Stu Tyrrell, Canberra altcoustic duo Tundrel, dark‑hypnotic journeyman Johnathan Devoy and Canberra songstress Georgia Davis.

Silentia redefine the concept of acoustic covers by revealing the raw musicality in your favourite prog, metal and rock songs.
Three fourths of Canberra prog metal band Taliesin, Silentia regularly perform their Dream Theatre/Death Angel/Queensryche/Katatonia sound track mid-week on The Basement stage.

Sydney singer-songwriter Stu Tyrrell breathes new life into traditional English and Celtic Folk songs, re‑imagining them into stomping, roots infused arrangements that are then interwoven with acoustic heavy metal to deliver something completely original.

Tundrel epitomise the concept of brutal‑acoustic with a heaviness that comes from heartfelt emotions expressed through words and music.
Appearing as a duo in acoustic form, this Canberra alternative rock outfit elicit a musical conviction whether performing covers or originals.

Johnathan Devoy is armed with an acoustic guitar and heartfelt confessionals of the darkest kind.
Multi‑instrumentalist and chaotic former frontman of iconic industrial acts Jerk, iNk and Melody Black, Johnathan Devoy stripped down and solo will take you on a hypnotic journey while showcasing one of Australia’s finest rock voices.

Georgia Davis is a singer-songwriter; she hails from Canberra. She’s awesome performing solo, or with her band, Cos her talents stretch near and far.
Whether strumming ukulele, or finger‑picking guitar—Georgia’s songs of joy and dark humour follow the beat of her heart.

Brutalcoustic @ The Basement, 2 Cohen St Belconnen ACT, Friday June 16. Doors 8:00pm. $15 entry.
