Chicago Doom Junkies Drug Honkey To Release ‘Cloak of Skies’ via Cassette

Drug Honkey

Chicago-based industrial doom lords DRUG HONKEY are pleased to announce the long-awaited cassette release of their nightmarish fifth album, Cloak of Skies, due out Dec. 26 via Ascension Monuments Media.

Recorded by the band themselves at SOS Studio in Chicago and Everflow Studios in Berwyn, IL, Cloak of Skies is 50-minutes of pure sonic madness. According to CVLT Nation, the album “pulls the band down various psychedelic sub-categories, from the surrealistic to the dystopian, achieved through an impeccable application of synths, noise generation, feedback loops, all aimed to make this opioid dream reality.”

Named #4 on CVLT Nation’s Top Ten Sludge Releases of 2017, Cloak of Skies boasts seven tracks, including a remix by the legendary Justin K. Broadrick (GodfleshJesu) and a guest saxophone feature from Bruce Lamont (YakuzaCorrections HouseBrain Tentacles). Cover art was hand-painted by renowned artist Paulo Girardi (Inquisition, Power Trip).
Experience the auditory madness in Justin K. Broadrick’s remix of “Pool of Failure” via Decibel AT THIS LOCATION.

DRUG HONKEY emerged in 1999 from the ashes of Chronic Illogic. Seeking to create something audibly unique, they merged elements of doom, death and electronic together to straddle the lines of unconventional and experimental.

With a healthy catalog of five full-length albums and one EP, DRUG HONKEY have earned a plethora of rave reviews over the years. The band has had the privilege to perform with the likes of Today Is the DayBuzzov*en and Indian, just to name a few. Enough fanfare surfaced to even merit an invitation to Denmark’s prestigious Roskilde Festival in 2014.

Track listing is as follows:

1. Pool Of Failure
2. Sickening Wastoid
3. Outlet of Hatred
4. (It’s Not) The Way
5. The Oblivion Of an Opiate Nod
6. Cloak of Skies
7. Pool of Failure (JKB Remix)
