Claude Hay’s latest film clip single ‘Burn’ is loaded with political commentary. The song is inspired by the corporate greed of the coal seam gas fracking industry – which is an issue close to the heart of the blues-rocker – and a hot topic in his home town of Katoomba Blue Mountains.
Hay says:
“Burn lyrics were written after watching two documentaries on fracking, one pro-fracking and one against. I dug around on the web to find out more on the pro-fracking doco and to no surprise I found out it was funded by one of the big petrochemical companies. Pure rage naturally came out”
The film clip was shot and edited by Australian filmmaker and IF Award winner Michael Joy (Men’s Group), and features breathtaking landscapes of the upper Blue Mountains, just a stones throw away from Hay’s abode and studio. It was the first song written for his album ‘Roller Coaster’ and features a 3 piece band, diversifying from Hay’s well-loved One Man Band sound.
Hay returns home from a mammoth 22 show run in the Netherlands and UK to promote the Burn single and film clip with a run of shows on the East Coast, with 3-piece British blues-rock band Wille and the Bandits along for the ride. Wille and The Bandits were listed in the top ten must see bands at Glastonbury 2014 by BBC Radio 1 and have been assertively carving a place for themselves in the UK / European music scene. This is their first run in Australia and they are sure to wow Aussies with their brand of modern day Hendrix meets Cream.
