“So here is the question: What do you do after playing four decades with Joe Cocker and you still feel you’ve got some left in the tank? You call your friends. The guys who did it with him back in the beginning. (…) Then you start looking for a singer. (…) By happenstance, you find a guy, Elliott Tuffin. (…) You check him out. You say: This guy can get the job done. (…) You record 24 tracks (…) You catch magic in a bottle. Amazing”
These introductory words by Deric Dyer at the beginning of the one-hour documentary about Cocker Rocks sum up the emotional path that already lies behind everyone who put their whole heart and enthusiasm into this unique project. This path does now not only finally lead to a tour through Europe, but also has some very special extra in store: the live album “Mad Dogs Unchained” that is going to be released via SAOL on October 20th. Watch the first trailer for the documentary here:
The documentary illustrates the above-mentioned path, reconstructs and retraces it by giving both emotional and enjoyable insights into the origins of Cocker Rocks through interviews with singer Elliott Tuffin and the band members around Cliff Goodwin, Mitch Chakour and Deric Dyer. The interviews are accompanied by videos of the band backstage and live on stage video footage that serves as the original frame of this short film. Evergreens like “Unchain My Heart” and “You Can Leave Your Hat On” as well as performances of “You Are So Beautiful”, “When The Night Comes” or “I Come In Peace” create a goose bump atmosphere. The on stage video material was shot during several successful boutique shows in the US.
And when the documentary ends with the words “Thank you, Joe, for inviting us along for the ride”, this is much more than a thanks to Joe for what has been. It is also an invitation – to Cocker Rocks’ tour in 2018! The German tour dates are already fixed. The presale has started and tickets can be ordered via Ticketkmaster under http://www.ticketmaster.de/artist/cocker-rocks-tickets/987973?camefrom=de_va_02495. Further tour dates all across Europe, for example in Amsterdam, London and Prague, are planned.
