Filmmaking instrumental 4-piece Dumbsaint return with a new 2-track release, Another Scene.
Following a successful 3-week 2017 European tour, which saw the band perform at Dunk! Festival in Belgium, appearing alongside Swans and God Is An Astronaut, Dumbsaint returned home and immediately set about bringing closure to the 2-year touring cycle promoting their 2nd full-length LP, ‘Panorama, in ten pieces.‘.
In addition to the album and corresponding 60-minute feature film having been inducted into the Australian National Film and Sound Archive in 2016, the band felt it was important to mark this moment with new material that was written on the road while promoting the most recent release.
“With so many hours noodling in transit, rehearsal and backstage, we made sure we kept track of all the musical tangents that came and went”, the band said in a statement.
“Our European tour was such an inspiring time for us, and we wanted to follow up the experience with something new that kept that productive energy going. We feel this impromptu release captures musically where we’ve been over the last 2 years as well as where we’re potentially headed next. Rather than sit on the new material until the next album, we set out to self-record and handle the whole process ourselves – to get it out to people more directly, and make sure this release genuinely represents where we’re at right now“.
While Another Scene is the end for now, the band will promote the release around Australia next week, supporting Japanese post-rock colossi, Mono, on all dates of their Australian tour.
Another Scene is available for free or Pay What You Want now and for more information, go to dumbsaint.bandcamp.com.
