EarMusic News: Loudness, Deep Purple, Thunder, Trust

A roundup of the latest news from EarMusic including news on Loudness, Deep Purple, Thunder and Trust.

LoudnessSince its inception in 1981, Loudness have led the Japanese heavy metal scene and embarked on global domination with Thunder In The East (1985 / #74 US national chart) and Lightning Strikes (1986 / #64 US national chart). They have been fanatically acclaimed worldwide.

Now, Rise To Glory, the first album in 4 years since 2014’s The Sun Will Rise Again will be released on 26th January 2018 worldwide and for the first time on earMUSIC.
The album is packed with aggression, melody and positive vibes.
Vocalist Minoru Niihara says: “The album cheers you up, makes you feel fresh.”

From the rock maelstrom of “Massive Tornado” to the young burning passion of “Soul On Fire”, the life-glorifying “I’m Still Alive”, and the declaration of metal warfare of “Rise To Glory”
all of them serve as supporter songs for the age of turmoil.

The guitar wizardry of Akira Takasaki, hailed around the world as one of the true Guitar Gods, is featured throughout the album. He admits: “I played lots of guitars, more than any other albums this century. There was soul in the sounds” – his performance would surprise even the most ardent of the fans. Together with the guitar solos on each song, there is amazing playing on the instrumental track, leaning towards the progressive side of the band.

Along with the hurtling speed tunes such as “Massive Tornado”, “No Limit” and “Rise To Glory”, the variety of songwriting takes the listener to an amazing journey. “Rain” has the melancholic mood, “Until I See The Light” focuses on the melodic side of the band, and “Let’s All Rock” has a heated call-and-response with the audience to recreate their live performance.

LOUDNESS are
Akira Takasaki – Guitar
Minoru Niihara – Vocals
Masayoshi Yamashita – Bass
Masayuki Suzuki – Drums

Thunder - Christmas DaySince forming in 1989, Thunder have established themselves among the UK’s most consistent attractions, notching up some twenty Top Fifty singles, 2 gold albums, and cultivating a well-deserved reputation as consummate live performers. The band’s sound is a timeless marriage of unforgettable melodies and sheer rock power. After their sensational return with their Classic Rock Award nominated album, “Wonder Days” in 2015, their 2017 release “Rip It Up” achieved a top 3 UK chart, their best in 22 years, which shows how after over 27 years in business, Thunder is less than ready to hang up their hat. They don’t remain stiff and chose the easy way, but aim towards challenging themselves and their listeners.

This Christmas will see the established hard rockers in a brand new light. The title track “Christmas Day”, a heartfelt ballad that has been recorded in a – for Thunder – unusual manner: featuring a soft acoustic guitar and minimal arrangement while singer Danny Bowes’ impressive vocal talent is specifically showcased. The rest of the single release is equally precious.

With songs like “Love Walked In”, “Low Life In High Places“ and “Heartbreak Hurricane“ in a similarly pure setting, Thunder prove the width of their musical range by exploring new horizons.
This does, however, not mean that the legendary hard rockers have become soft. Interesting rearrangements and reinterpretations do not conceal the core, which is skillfully crafted Thunder originals.

Tracklist
1. Christmas Day
2. Love Walked In (2017
Version)
3. Low Life In High Places
(Acoustic)
4. Heartbreak Hurricane (Acoustic) “Christmas Day” is released as CD Digipak and Digital on December 1st, 2017 on earMUSIC

Trust - Live at Hellfest 2017TRUST, the French hard rock/metal band, celebrate their 40th anniversary with the release of a blazing concert, performed in front of 60.000 frenzied fans at this year’s Hellfest festival, offering one hour of powerful riffs and rough lyrics. Hellfest 2017 will be released in a special CD+DVD Digipak Edition and Digital on November 24th, 2017 via earMUSIC.

In between classics such as “Marche Ou Crève” or “Au Nom De La Race”, we hear two new songs – “L’Archange” and “Démocrassie” – before the band closes their great live set with their anthem “Antisocial”, sung by the entire crowd.

The DVD also features an exclusive bonus video: TRUST performing “Antisocial” together with iconic American thrash metal band Anthrax (recorded last summer during the Artefacts Festival in Strasbourg).

TRUST was founded in 1977 and gained international success not only because of the political and social-critical lyrics of their songs, but also through joint concert tours outside of France with chummy artists such as AC/DC and Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden’s drummer Nicko McBrain and Clive Burr were part of the TRUST line-up in the 1980s. TRUST split up in 1985 but reunited for the first time in 1988 due to the great international success of an English version of their most popular song “Antisocial” that was covered by Anthrax for their 1988 album ‘State of Euphoria’.

In the following years, TRUST reformed a couple of times around the original band members Bernie Bonvoisin and Norbert “Nono” Krief.
