Hellions Drop “24 (feat. Josh Franceschi)” & “Jesus Of Suburbia” Green Day Cover Double Single

Hellions have dropped their new double single “24 (Feat. Josh Franceschi) / “Jesus of Suburbia” Green Day cover.

Hellions may have only just wrapped up their biggest headline tour to date, but there’s no stopping the boys as they prepare to do it all again in September with their mates You Me At Six. In fact, the two bands are so close that You Me At Six frontman Josh Franceschi appears on Hellions next single “24”. The track was premiered on BBC Radio 1 on Sunday night.

“24” comes as a double-single alongside the band’s cover of Green Day’s “Jesus of Suburbia”, which was originally recorded as part of Kerrang! Magazine‘s American Superhits all star Green Day tribute to mark the band’s 30th anniversary.

The idea to have Franceschi lend his pipes to a Hellions song had been brewing within the band, and came to fruition during Hellions last UK tour. Franceschi went and saw the Hellions play in London and the next day they were in You Me At Six’s studio laying down the guest vocals for “24”, which was recorded by You Me At Six drummer Dan Flint.

“When the lads asked me to sing on the track I was more than game as I love what the song is about and the meaning behind it,” says Franceschi. “They are all great lads and it was a pleasure to be part of it.”

“’24’ deals with the importance of being oneself, detailing the struggles of maintaining grace and patience in times of tumult,” adds Hellions’ guitarist Matt Gravolin. “Josh added a new dimension to the song with his performance and to watch him do so was awe-inspiring, especially after spinning YMAS single ‘Give’ and eventually the entirety of their latest record ‘Night People’ repeatedly during the preceding weeks. We’re ecstatic to have been invited to share the stage with the boys in September and we’re counting down the days!”

Heading back to Australia in support of their fifth album Night People, You Me At Six are one of the most important rock bands to emerge from the UK with four Top 5 records, including their #1 album, Cavalier Youth, on the mantle.

Sydney’s Hellions have been riding a wave of critical acclaim since they dropped their third album Opera Oblivia, which debuted at #4 on the ARIA Album Chart, landed the coveted triple j Feature Album, scored flawless reviews and completely sold out their 2016 headline tour before doors even opened. The band even found themselves nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album in 2016. Earlier this year, Hellions appeared in the triple j Hottest 200 list twice with “Quality of Life” coming in at #136 and “Thresher” at #153.

Hellions recently wrapped up their hugely successful Australian tour which saw them sell out shows at most stops, including two hometown shows at the Oxford Arts Factory and the iconic Corner Hotel in Melbourne, with allocations exhausted weeks in advance.
