Imagine Dragons put on an amazing performance at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The show on October 24, 2017 was in support of their newest album “Evolve,” which was released in the Spring. Supporting acts on this show featured K.Flay and Grouplove.
Bio: Imagine Dragons formed in 2009 and have quickly been climbing up the charts ever since. Despite the lineup changes, Imagine Dragons have been nominated for several music awards which included an award for “Top Rock Artist”.
The show started off with a video playing on the screen while lights in the room were dim. Fans cheered louder as the band made an appearance. They seemed to please fans with their opening song “ I Don’t Know Why.” Lead singer, Dan Reynolds started off the song while smoke and various colored lights filled the stage. His voice was clear and began with some high notes followed by drums beating in the background. The energy in the room continued to escalate as the band played “It’s Time”. You could hear the crowd singing along to the lyrics. Other songs on the setlist consisted of “Believer”, “Thunder” and “Whatever it Takes” which are all featured on their recent album.
The one song that stands out from their “Evolve” album is “Believer”. It is a song about “destigmatizing” depression and anxiety. Dan Reynolds, gave a speech before he began this song. He stated that millions of people in this world have suffered from depression, anxiety, seeking therapy, and how these are “stigmatized in society.” He was reaching out to all those who are suffering and had stated “you are not alone.” I really like this song because Reynolds is telling us that despite the hard times in life, we should continue to achieve our dreams and never give up hope.
Imagine Dragons encored the show with a phenomenal performance of “Radioactive”. This was a great song to end with considering it is one of their biggest hits and reached number 1 on the Billboard charts. American Rock band from Vegas will be continuing their tour across the world in January 2018. The tour will kick off in Malaysia on January 6th and their last stop will be in Stockholm, Sweden on April 26th.
