WA’s young blues guitar gun Matty T Wall is headed across the Nullarbor once again for Melbourne shows in support of latest single ‘This Is Real’. The whirlwind weekended takes in three of VIC’s favourite blues hotspots – Cherry Bar, The Catfish, and Queenscliff’s Bluestrain at the end of October.
‘This Is Real’ was recorded for the album ‘Blue Skies’, at the Rada Studios in Perth. The song is a slow burn building over a sparse groove, leading to a soaring guitar solo, one of the best of many on the Blues Skies album.
Says Matty of the new track,
”I wrote this track in the same vein as a Robert Cray or Gary Clark Jr soul blues song. I couldn’t help but to make it rockier for the ending though. I had a lot of fun creating all the melodies for this tune, and so much fun writing a guitar solo for this one. In fact, the main guitar solo is one of my favourite guitar solos on the whole album.”
The video clip was filmed at the art-deco inspired Astor Theatre in Perth by Jonathan Shaw at Limitless Studios.
