Scalphunter release new single ahead of Bigsound, announce ‘Lies’ album out Sep 29

Scalphunter

The last year has seen Perth’s most loved punk rawk rapscallions Scalphunter take out their second “Best Punk/Hardcore Act” WAMAward in a row, score a nomination for Best Live Act in the debut National Live Music Awards and two WAM Song Of The Year nominations, and most recently sign on to Premier Artists with booker Glenn Stewart. Gearing up to leave BIGSOUND industry heads spinning, Scalphunter are also readying to give birth to one hell of a screaming baby; their debut album ‘Lies’ on September 29, out through Arrest Records/Firestarter – and a few special launch shows to boot.

With a blistering live show and a unique ability to steal the hearts of all music fans, they’ve finally channelled their infamous live ferociousness into an ear-melting 10-tracks, which the first new taste was premiered Wednesday night on triple j’s Short.Fast.Loud

Playing punk rock hard and fast with smatterings of thrash, hardcore and metal, Lies is an album soaked with blood, sweat and pure adrenalin. Recorded at Electric City Studios with Adam Round (Voyager, Tame Impala), ‘Lies’ captures why they’ve impressed the pants off acts they’ve played with, including Dwarves, D.R.I., The Misfits, High On Fire and Clowns (Stevie Williams features on album track ‘Don’t Look Down’).

‘Lies’ is also a timely attack on current social, political and cultural injustices, taking no prisoners as it calls for change whilst giving hope to the disenfranchised generation that has had enough of being lied to. It’s an aggressive onslaught that demands your max attention – and your stereo turned to max.

With the band’s legion of new admirers growing after every show, they have thrown down at events like RTRFM’s In The Pines, HyperFest, WAMFest, Day In The Dust, Blood Rock Fest, Beaufort Street Festival, A Not So Silent Night, The Bakery’s last ever New Years Eve show and the National Live Music Awards party. The band came to the attention of many when they defied all odds by winning The Big Splash, the forceful foursome turning their first act slot into a seething circle pit of new friends.
