The Amity Affliction have released “Tomorrow”: the third single from Spawn (Again): A Tribute To Silverchair, set for release this week via UNFD.
Created with the blessing of Silverchair’s team, The Amity Affliction join acts like Hands Like Houses, Northlane, In Hearts Wake and Ocean Grove putting their spin on classic Silverchair hits from their stellar discography. The band’s frontman Daniel Johns – who is currently involved in a Easybeats tribute project of his own called Boom Tish – says he feels honoured by the forthcoming album.
“At first I didn’t know what to think of this album concept, I guess it never really dawned on me that a Silverchair tribute album would ever be a thing,” says Johns. “It’s funny though, sitting down and listening to the tracks I felt a strange reconnection with these songs, most of them I wrote when I was a teenager. I appreciate the time these bands have taken to record these new versions of the tunes.”
The next single lifted from the compilation is “Tomorrow”, reimagined by The Amity Affliction, who share the honour with Silverchair of achieving three consecutive #1 ARIA Chart debuts. Only five Australian bands have achieved such a feat.
“I was obsessed with Frogstomp as a 12 year-old boy. I wanted to BE Daniel Johns.” says The Amity Affliction’s Ahren Stringer. “‘Tomorrow’ was the hit and what the world heard first, and still is the hit of their career, in my opinion.”
