The Magpie Salute earning praise for debut U.S. Tour

THE BAND IS DRAWING FROM OVER 170 SONGS – EXTENSIVE SUMMER-INTO-FALL ITINERARY WITH 60 SHOWS INCLUDES TWO-NIGHT ENGAGEMENTS IN CHICAGO (METRO), SAN FRANCISCO (THE FILLMORE) AND NEW YORK (IRVING PLAZA)

THE MAGPIE SALUTEwhich brings together the reunited guitar team of Rich Robinson and Marc Ford from the Black Crowes and bassist Sven Pipien (also from the Crowes) with other dynamic musicians and co-ed singers from around the world–are earning praise on their debut American tour that launched July 26 in Indianapolis. Of the 10-piece bands August 11 performance at the Peach Music Festival in Scranton, PA, where the set listincluded material from theirself-titled debut album (released June 9 via Eagle Rock Entertainment and available via Amazon here), Rolling Stone noted:

The Magpie Salute, featuring Black Crowes alumni Marc Ford and Sven Pipien, members of the Rich Robinson Band, vocalist John Hogg, and a soulful group of background singers, took the stage to show they could be just as powerful as the Crowes ever were. Hogg’s voice stunned on a soaring version of the Crowes’ My Morning Song‘…and the band debuted the original tune Omission,an electrifying hybrid of hard rock and Southern blues with a melodic bridge.Matt Mattei, 8/14/17

On their 60-show summer-into-fall outing including two-night engagement in
Chicago (Metro), San Francisco (The Fillmore) and New York City (Irving Plaza), THE MAGPIE SALUTE are drawing from over 170 songs including material by The Black Crowes, solo albums from Rich Robinson and Marc Ford, and classic cover songs that have inspired the band.

As a result, their shows are unpredictable and completely fresh, with Gary Graff of the Oakland Press in Michigan hailing their performance as “…an organic and dynamic exposition of music in the moment (7/31/17). Writing in North Carolina’s Smoky Mountain News about the Asheville show, Garret K. Woodward said: “The Magpie Salute is a juggernaut of pure rock-n-roll swagger, the shock and awe of a triple-guitar assault on the audience, fueled by thunderous kick-drums and songbird backup soul singers” (8/23/17). Elsewhere, the rock blog Live For Live Music raved about the Atlanta show: The energy stayed strong through their 20-song set, with incendiary musicianship blasting through the instruments of the artists on stage(8/19/17).

THE MAGPIE SALUTE–whom will record a double album in 2018–features musicians whove played together for decades throughout various projects and share a truly deep musical bond. Joining Robinson, Ford and Pipien in the band are drummer Joe Magistro and guitarist Nico Bereciartua. The group also boasts a fine cast of vocalists, including Robinson, Ford, lead singer John Hogg (Hookah Brown, Moke), former Crowes singer Charity White and background singers Adrien Reju and Katrine Ottosen. Notably, THE MAGPIE SALUTE is a truly international band. Londons John Hogg is of Swedish/African heritage, Sven Pipien is German, Nico Bereciartua is an Argentinean citizen and Kat Ottosen is a Danish citizen who partly lives in Copenhagen.
