In March 2017 dream rockers Crystal Cities released the hauntingly beautiful “Who’s Gonna Save Us Now” from their debut EP of the same title. Now they’re back with their eclectic second single, “Binary Eyes”.

“Binary Eyes explores ideas about what reality is and how our subjective consciousness plays a role in determining that. It also questions subjective consciousness itself; do we have control over what we think and feel or has our ever-shifting paradigm of reality been preconstructed for us to passively live out?”
Geoff Rana, singer/songwriter for Crystal Cities

Despite the grandiose thematic ideas attached to the song, musically it’s quite playful!Strong guitar hooks layer the song while Dan Conte’s drum patterns and Jared King’s bass supply the danceable ‘jump-up-and-down’ momentum. Lead singer, Geoff Rana, delivers a laid-back but highly charismatic vocal performance, channeling the compelling stylings of iconic artists such as David Bowie and Steve Kilbey. The track was mixed by Sean Cook from “Yves Klein Blue”. Binary Eyes is a lo-fi anthem.

Since the release of their first single, Crystal Cities have gone from strength to strength, charting at #2 on the Triple j Unearthed Charts and debuting at #10 on the Amrap Charts within the first week of release. Not a bad effort for a completely independent band!Having generated so much hype both in Australia and overseas in such a short period of time, the band can’t wait to unleash Binary Eyes into the world and see what the future holds.
