Void of Vision Announce & Release New EP ‘Disturbia’

Void Of Vision

Void of Vision have announced and released their punishing new EP Disturbia today via UNFD. A smashing return the the roots of the Melbourne band, the first single lifted from the EP is “Ghost In The Machine”, a brutal and relentless slice of classic hardcore rendered with a new-school twist. The single was was written during the band’s debut European tour during a watershed moment.

According to frontman Jack Bergin, Disturbia EP is the most honest piece of work he has ever been involved in. The title and concept of Disturbia comes from a time when Bergin was in a state of flux and trying to fit in wherever he found himself. “Over the past year, I haven’t really been in a place which I could call ‘home’. I’d found myself lost numerous times and had to revisit a lot of dark places I never wanted to reflect back upon to do so. The term ‘Disturbia’ is coined as the dark side of a neighbourhood, a place I became all too familiar with.

“There is no particular theme for the EP, this was really for an experience I wanted myself to have, seeking the hopeful relief of facing my own demons. In the most unselfish way possible, I wrote this EP for myself, because I needed to.”

Following on from their debut album Children of Chrome (2016), Void of Vision brought Disturbia to life with co-writing sessions with label mates Jon Deiley (Northlane) and Sam Bassal (Ocean Grove), and Drew Fulk (Motionless in White / I Prevail) in the producer’s chair. These external factors helped the band step out of their comfort zone and create an EP that’s fresh yet familiar. A cathartic collection of songs for Bergin, he says he purged every single emotion he’s bottled up in the past two years into Disturbia, which is the best thing he’s done for his mental health in a long time.

Void of Vision have had a busy year on the road, playing with everyone from I Prevail and Make Them Suffer to Body Count. Later this month, Void of Vision will head out on a co-headline tour with Graves, then will kick off the year at UNIFY 18 before jumping on a plane back to Europe and the UK supporting Miss May I.
