Just about to play to multiple sold out crowds across the nation, WAAX are coming in hot in the lead up to their Wild & Weak EP tour with a rousing video for the title track.
Following a middle aged woman on what can only be described as a bender of a night, the video is an allegory for a song about partying away ones problems in the most spectacular fashion possible. Directed by the team at Creative Clones – who worked with WAAX on their video for ‘Same Same’ – the video highlights some of the best and worst of Brisbane’s party center, Fortitude Valley.
‘Wild & Weak’ is enjoying a lengthy renaissance with a recent add to triple j rotation and is currently sitting at number seven on the AIR Independent Radio charts. Also on rotation on FBi, it took out the number one most played track on Brisbane’s 4ZZZ for two weeks in a row and the band’s EP of the same name was the feature album on Radio Adelaide last week.
WAAX also reveal today the bands who will be joining them on tour. Melburnian indie quartet Neighbourhood Youth join the band for three shows down the south of the country alongside Adelaide and Melbourne locals Press Club and Pinkish Blu. It’s an electric lady evening at the sold out Brisbane show with Eliza and the Delusionals and local favourites Whalehouse. NSW and WA shows are a mixed bag of indie rock with Hedge Fund, Kiko Smokes, Rag n Bone and more coming along for the ride.
The reaction from fans to Wild & Weak has been immense with the band’s hometown show at Crowbar selling out three weeks before the start of the tour. The band’s second Melbourne show is now also sold out with a handful of tickets left to the Sydney show and all other shows selling fast.
