Walken win hearts with new single/video for ‘Unomi’ and new EP

Walken

If there’s ever been a more likeable rock band than WALKEN, we’ll eat our shoes.

The bombastic Brisbane maestros of lovable grungy pop punk have a brand new song to bounce off your brain while you chuck a nice positive tear. Unomi premiered this morning on Hysteria Radio and is just gorgeous. It’s the latest taste from their new EP What’s Your Environment? which will see the light of day on December 15.

Premiered via Happy, the one-shot video for WALKEN’S dynamic, sumptuous lovesong is frankly captivating, emotive and surely one of the best clips of the year…

What’s Your Environment?’ – out independently December 15, features past singles Eagle Eye, which addresses the anxieties of adolescence, and Even If It Kills Me, full of heartfelt, tortured remembrance – the new EP fearlessly asks the big questions. But it does so in a self-effacing way that doesn’t even go close to disguising how impossibly clever these arrangements are.

Slots at Dead of Winter Fest and Loudmouth Festival mean the lads have one toe dipped into the touring bucket while concentrating on getting the goods down in the studio. You may also remember these boys from their kick-ass support slots for killer acts like The Bennies, DZ Deathrays, Totally Unicorn, Tired Lion, Hard Aches, Columbus, The Peep Tempel, Clowns and WAAX.

Rock music is supposed to make you feel good. And dammit if WALKEN’s don’t wanna make you tramp confidently down the street with a big ol’ grin on your face, high-fiving strangers. These are quintessential driving summer songs that equally reference the punk anthem style of Blink 182, but also fit right into place alongside domestic punk winners Ceres, Violent Soho and The Smith Street Band.
