ALBUM REVIEW: Uriah Heep – Living the Dream

Avalon Label - 28th August 2018

Formed last millennium and with a line-up that’s changed more than most over the years Uriah Heep in 2018 is still a must for lovers of Classic Rock. If you’re uncertain or wonder how that could possibly be the case, then just listen to how opening track ‘Grazed By Heaven’ ticks all the required boxes from searing guitar solo to Hammond organ stab and speedy breakdown. It’s proof that over the last few years and an armful of releases that Uriah Heep are still delivering.

Indeed an incredible 25 studio albums into a career you could even argue that there are a few tracks on this latest work that are right up there with anything they have done in the past. And that to e is the best thing about Heep – whilst some of their better known contemporaries have had some patchy periods Heep have continued to deliver live and over the last decade especially their studio output has been rather fine.

Best of the bunch here are the the title track, the epic eight minute plus ‘Rocks in the Road’; the folky ‘Waters Flowin” and the familiar sounding classic rock of ‘Falling Under Your Spell’ before the closing track ‘Dreams of Yesteryear’ proves that those dreams are still vivid as ever for Heep fans as long as the band keep putting out records like this.

50 years next year if you can believe it!
