BLACKEN OPEN AIR returns to Alice Springs this Easter with a massive lineup of heavy acts from around the country. This is the sixth incarnation of the annual festival which takes place over two days and nights.
The lineup announcement was made live on Triple J’s The Racket, on Tuesday night. Host Lochlan Watt, who has attended every Blacken since it’s inception in 2013, said he was pumped for the new lineup.
BLACKEN 2018 is headlined by Melbourne’s revered punk metal crew High Tension and Earth Rot, from Perth. High Tension, fronted by charismatic front-woman Karina Utomo, premiered a slamming new single on Triple J’s The Racket on Tuesday night to coincide with the lineup announcement. Festival director Pirate said “We’re beyond excited to introduce this enormous collection of bands to the Dead Centre of the country. See you at Blacken!”
An eclectic range of local acts on the bill include favourites Miazma, SNAKES and Southeast Desert Metal, while unexpected acts such as rockers Apakatjah, industrial noise group Bug-Eyed and the Gypsy Jazz group Wiggle of Judas, bring a wider range of sounds to the stage.
