Since the start of the year, Beach Riot have been pretty busy. After a couple incredibly successful shows both in Brighton and at prime London venues such as The Finsbury and Camden Assembly, they then went international for their first time and flew all the way to Paris, where they played at Le Trusker – alongside Mice On Mars and Jelly Fish. On the wave of the momentum they have created touring around, they have just released a brand-new single called “Serial Scruff”, unveiled this past 13th March and premiered via Clash. The song had its radio premiere on Radio X’s X-Posure with John Kennedy and was subsequentially played by Daniel P Carter on BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show.
Beach Riot is now ready to release an extremely well-produced music video for the single, which features band members Rory and Cami wandering in the woods with a mysterious stranger, in a B&W setting.
So far, the unique sound of the band has received quite a big support online, from blogs such as DeadPress! and Punktastic, which in turn premiered Beach Riot’s ‘She’s a Hurricane’ single and video, Gigslutz, It’s All Indie and Vents Magazine. We expect this new tune to gather just as much online support and more.
Beach Riot are a fuzzy four-piece consisting of Rory O’Connor (guitar/vocals), Cami Menditeguy (guitar/vocals), Jim Faulkner (bass/vocals) and Jonny Ross (drums). With members split from Brighton and London, the band share a mutual love for making a lot of pop fuelled noise that lives and breathes on the live circuit. The quartet’s DIY nature assorts as a distorted haze compiled with big hooks and a distinctive raw energy that’s incredibly current. All of this attends to an underground scene that is brimming with fuzzy pop. Taking influences from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Cable, Sleater-Kinney and Pavement, their sound is brash and untamed.
