Australia’s heavy music scene has a brand new label – Wild Thing Records, embracing all things progressive / alternative rock & metal! Headed up in partnership by Eli Chamravi and David Roy Williams, the new label heads are today announcing their new venture to the world – as well as their first signing – the incredible Melbourne-based progressive alternative metal powerhouse CIRCLES for Australia & New Zealand. The record, to be released in the latter half of 2018, will also be released to the rest of the world (excluding AU & NZ) via French metal label Season of Mist.
Eli Chamravi of Wild Thing Records and Wild Thing Presents, said that “Being involved in the Australian progressive rock & metal scene through Wild Thing Presents – in a management, booking & touring capacity – for many years now, I felt that the next step in Wild Thing’s evolution was to start a record label – Wild Thing Records. In David Roy Williams, who has numerous years of experience in running labels, I have found the perfect partner to push Australian prog bands to the next level – both nationally and internationally. I’m extremely excited about our first signing CIRCLES, who are on the cusp of something very special with their magical new album to be released later this year. I look forward to signing more artists – local and international, nurturing our world-class progressive scene, and assisting Australian prog bands to reach greater heights.”
David Roy Williams, of Wild Thing Records and DRW Entertainment, said that “Australian musos are smashing down the doors! Eli and the Wild Thing team are making huge inroads taking Australian progressive metal out of small Aussie venues and onto international festival stages, so it’s great to see such an amazing band as Circles joining the fray and taking their music around the globe. Circles have created a new work which is simply astonishing in its scope and we can’t wait to unleash this monster at the ears of fans all over the world.“
CIRCLES are about to head out on tour supporting Ne Obliviscaris from this Friday night, and today are showing the world the first taste of their new record – a frantic, melodic, razor-sharp, complex track entitled ‘Blueprints for a Great Escape.’ The band will be playing new tracks and more on the Ne Obliviscaris + CIRCLES tour throughout February in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle, Brisbane and Perth.
On this new record, Guitarist Ben Rechter has assumed the role of melodic vocalist and fellow band members Tetsuya Furuhashi (guitar), Andrew Patton (bass/screamed vocals), and David Hunter (drums) provide a maelstrom of musical brutality. Circles’ previous European tours have included Euroblast Festival, as well as supporting on tours by The Dillinger Escape Plan, Monuments and After The Burial. In Australia, they’ve toured as direct support to acts such as Periphery, Fear Factory, Ne Obliviscaris, and Twelve Foot Ninja.
Ted Furuhashi, Guitarist for Circles, expressed that the band is “Stoked and honoured to be teaming up with Season of Mist and Wild Thing Records. It’s been great vibes all round and we know they’re invested in our music as much as we are. It’s been a while but we’re ready to smash it and show you guys what we’ve been up to!”
