Gather round, gather round for the biggest show in town. Festival of the Sun (FOTSUN) is turning 15 years old and in the spirit of still being young, fun and never growing up, we are running away to the circus for a better life for three, fun-filled days.
Welcome to Festival of the Sun 2018, Roll on Up Edition. In 2018 opening night begins December 13th and closes December 15th with performances from this hula hooping line up:
VERA BLUE – POND – WINSTON SURFSHIRT- SKEGSS – TKAY MAIDZA
REMI – ANGIE MCMAHON – WEST THEBARTON – DIDIRRI
SLOWLY SLOWLY – KWAME – CLOWNS BOAT SHOW – PIST IDIOTS – GOOD DOOGS – CLEWS – JESS LOCKE – BODY TYPE – TRIPLE ONE – CLYPSO – HALYCYON DRIVE – GRACE TURNER – UNEARTHED
Festival Director and self proclaimed Ringmaster Simon Luke has bought his top hat and tailcoat, set up the big top and will be arriving on unicycle for the annual event saying “We have finally reached the big 15 and are so proud that after so many years we are still a boutique, BYO festival on the mid-north coast that celebrates some seriously talented musicians”.
“We can’t wait for our FOTSUNNERS to get in on all the action and enjoy what we’ve put together for them, it will be the best one yet!”
For those inner-acrobatic punters who always swerve on in early to Breakwall Tourist Park (you know who you are) the curtains are drawn on Thursday 13th December at 2PM for Wabi Sabi. Don’t fret if you forget your costume, get down to one of Wabi Sabi’s many free workshops and have a crack at making it. Settle in on Thursday evening with Silent Comedy and Beats, listen to the best jokesters around then practice your very own rhythmic skills. Come Friday, bands will be kicking off at noon and they’ll be juggling into the night ‘til 10PM.
Warning, don’t clown around as tickets for Festival of the Sun (FOTSUN) go on sale on August 9th at 10AM (no early bird sales and discounts for existing circus performers). As always, there are only 3,000 spots up for grabs and they’re hotter than a fire breathing act, so get around some reliable Wi-FI on August 9! GA 2 and 3 Night tickets (including free camping) start at $239 and $249, respectively (car passes for 3 nights start at $52.00 and can double up as your accom).
For those who don’t want to pack their own circus tent, there is some saucy accom available at Tent City, “an eco friendly” VIP camping area that’s so close to the circus performers you can smell them. A variety of ticketing packages are available and full details can be found on fotsun.com.
A free ride will be available for FOTSUNners who live within a 10km radius of the festival grounds and aren’t staying on-site. We suggest packing light but if you want to bring your unicycle, who are we to deny you…
FOTSUN is NSW’s longest-running BYO festival held in Port Macquarie and is an 18+ event. Families are definitely welcome and children under 12 receive free entry when accompanied by an adult.
