Melbourne two-piece metal machine, Contrive, consisting of twin brothers Paul and Andrew Haug released their new album, Slow Dissolve late last year to global acclaim!
They recently shot their foot stomping and head crushing new video for the track What’s Mine in the historical and prestigious pavilion room at the Melbourne meat market!
Contrive drummer and self appointed ‘good twin’ Andrew Haug says of the video “We wanted to find somewhere elaborate with a lot of space rather than the stereotype abandoned warehouse approach, so we came across the Meat Market.
This room was perfect! It has some amazing history and interior which we captured using some killer drone footage, we feel this enhances the beauty of this location, plus the room was loud as hell which made it even better when we laid down our groove stamp! Enjoy!”

The twin brothers are two parts of the one whole, finishing each others musical thoughts like no one else can. The result is a potent collection of intuitive, progressive, heavy metal;
Modern production and a liberal dose of electronic effects meet some old school metal crunch via surging riffs and punishing drums.
Lyrically, the album is a loose concept about the varying options we all now have to communicate with each other but also creating a catch 22 that the digital age is also turning many people away from real connection or creating a fear anxiety of it.
Contrive have had a very prolific career, sharing stages with the likes of Opeth, Stone Sour, Sepultura, Soilwork, Machine Head, Testament, Cavalera Conspiracy, Coroner and more.
They have had their previous albums shaped by the hands of Devin Townsend and Fredrik Nordstrom.
Internationally they opened for Parkway Drive in Bangkok and were the first Australian band to ever play in Vietnam, resulting in them selling out the 800 seat Hard Rock Cafe in Ho Chi Minh City.
Known and well respected throughout the global metal community, Paul and Andrew have always done it their way. On their own, independently and for each other as well as themselves.
