American Christian metalcore band Fit For A King hailing from Dallas, Texas, just wrapped up their US Fall tour supporting fellow American Christian metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada on their 10th Anniversary tour for their album With Roots Above and Branches Below. We were able to catch up with the Texas boys in their New York City stop at The Gramercy Theatre.

Fit For A King currently consists of drummer Jared Easterling who is the only remaining founding member of the band, vocalist Ryan Kirby and on bass Ryan O’Leary who also supplies clean vocals. On tour they have Trey Celaya on lead guitar, who is the drummer in the band Invent Animate.

Fit For A King are touring in support of their fifth studio album Dark Skies, which was released September of this year. From nine songs on their setlist, a whopping six came from Dark Skies. They started off with Price of Agony followed by When Everything Means Nothing and Backbreaker, all from their newest album. The other three songs on the setlist came from their fourth studio album Deathgrip, which were Dead Memory, Pissed Off and title track Deathgrip which seemed most popular and well received by the crowd. They wrapped up the performance with Tower Of Pain from Dark Skies.

Overall the band did not disappoint, providing us with theiur signature classic metalcore show. Barring some minor technical difficulties with Ryan Kirby’s mic, and Ryan O’Leary guitar cord, which was often coming loose because of Mr O’Learys acrobatics on the stage, their set was a success.
