Long running blues rockers, Steve Grieve and The Mourners will be playing a selection of shows this month in support of their recent release, Caterpillar Maze.
Taking influence from Dylan, ZZ Top, Joe Bonamassa, Govt’ Mule, Floyd, Skynyrd, Tedeschi Trucks and more, the bands hybrid blend of rock, roots and blues has been at the forefront of Australian roots music for the last two decades.
Forming in Canberra in the early 90’s the song writing duo of guitarist Steve Grieve and vocalist Dan Myles quickly built a following on the live circuit across the eastern seaboard, performing alongside such iconic acts as Johnny Winter, Dr. Feelgood and Lonnie Mack.
Steve Grieve and The Mourners boasts a stellar line of high calibre, seasoned players who have played with some of Australia’s best. Bassist Greg Royal (Wendy Matthews, Kate Ceberano, Ian Moss) drummer Mick Skelton (Baby Animals, Thirsty Merc, Sarah McLeod) and Brendan St.Ledger on keys (Glenn Shorrock, Marcia Hines, Lily Dior) and Steve Grieve’s own credits include lengthy stints with Margaret Urlich, Christine Anu, Elvin Bishop and the legendary Jimmy Witherspoon.
The bands latest album, Caterpillar Maze was released in December 2017 and has featured continuously in the Top 15 on the Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Chart and is making impact globally, debuting at #13 on the UK’s Independent Blues Broadcaster’s Association April Airplay chart which lead to a nomination in the Presenter’s Picks of the Month for May 2018!
Caterpillar Maze is 12 songs of world class musicianship that is a must for blues roots and rock aficionados. Steve Grieve And The Mourners will be playing a stack of tracks from Caterpillar Maze as well as choice cuts from their extensive back catalogue at the following shows.
