Napalm Records News: Tremonti, Kamelot, Hoobastank, Kobra & The Lotus & more

 Tremonti

A roundup of the latest news from Napalm Records including Tremonti, Kamelot, Hoobastank, Kobra & The Lotus, Paddy & The Rats and Powerwolf.

Tremonti, the band comprised of Mark Tremonti on vocals/guitars, Eric Friedman on guitars, and Garrett Whitlock on drums, will be releasing their fourth full-length album, A Dying Machine, worldwide via Napalm Records on June 8th.
Longtime producer, Michael “Elvis” Baskette, produced the album.

From the militant drum assault of the album opener “Bringer Of War” to the instrumental closer “Found,” A Dying Machine is Tremonti’s most-diverse musical offering to date. Songs like “From The Sky,” “Throw Them To The Lions” and “A Lot Like Sin” are signature Tremonti that fans have come to love from the trio. Songs like “Trust,” “The First The Last” and “Desolation” take the listener to new places sonically, all backed by Tremonti’s signature vocal style.

A teaser video with music from the album can be seen below:

A Dying Machine is the first concept album of Tremonti’s career and the music is inspired by a story that came to Mark while on the last Alter Bridge tour. During that time, the epic title track “A Dying Machine” was born. The story, which is being turned into a full-length work of fiction authored by Mark Tremonti and John Shirley, takes place at the turn of the next century where humans and fabricated beings called “vessels” are trying to co-exist. Tremonti and Shirley are working on finishing the novel to release alongside the record.

The track listing for A Dying Machine is:
1) Bringer Of War
2) From The Sky
3) A Dying Machine
4) Trust
5) Throw Them To The Lions
6) Make It Hurt
7) Traipse
8) The First The Last
9) A Lot Like Sin
10) The Day When Legions Burned

Hoobstank - Push PullHoobastank, the Multi-platinum, 3X GRAMMY-nominated group have announced the release of their sixth studio album titled PUSH PULL on Friday, May 25.

Watch The Lyric Video For The First Single, More Beautiful here

For the new album, the band partnered with producer Matt Wallace (Faith No More, Deftones, Maroon 5, Andy Grammer) in Los Angeles marking their first release on noted rock independent label Napalm Records.

The band’s first new music since 2012’s Fight or Flight, the new album finds HoobastankDOUG ROBB (Lead vocals/rhythm guitar), DAN ESTRIN Lead guitar/keyboards), CHRIS HESSE (Drums/percussion/backing vocals), JESSE CHARLAND (bassist/keyboardist/backing vocals) exploring both rock and pop songwriting with a renewed vigor.
We never stopped exchanging musical ideas,” says vocalist/guitarist DOUG, who co-founded the band with high school classmates, DAN and CHRIS, almost 20 years ago in Agoura Hills, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles. “We waited until we had enough material to start recording an album.”  DAN adds, “There were always plenty of demos floating back and forth; some of them I played for Matt (Wallace) even before the rest of the band heard them.

As a result, PUSH PULL nails a bull’s-eye to the group’s underappreciated sweet spot–the large-scale, muscular ‘80s-‘90s alternative rock of U2, Duran Duran, INXS and even Tears for Fears, whose “Heads Over Heels” gets a brawny, Bowiesque take on the new collection. Hoobastank approached PUSH PULL with the swagger and confidence of a band whose first three albums all went either gold, platinum or multi-platinumThe Reason” garnered GRAMMY nominations for “Song of the Year,” “Best Rock Album” and “Best Pop Performance” for a Duo or Group. Of course, about that name, which means, exactly what?…

Sometimes you make dumb decisions when you’re young, and that might have been one of them,” laughs ROBB about being the punchline to SNL jokes and snooty critic snipes. As for the formidable bar-setting success of “The Reason,” DOUG is similarly sanguine.
We stopped attempting to recreate any formula,” he says. “We did what made us happy and played to our strengths. Take it or leave it.

Album highlights include the go-for-broke “Just Let Go (Who Cares if We Fall),” which sums up Hoobastank’s attitude. “At least we get to fly,” sings ROBB. In the title track “Push Pull,” and “More Beautiful,” DOUG unleashes his falsetto, while the funky R&B feel is a tribute to DAN’s early, late–‘90s penchant for Chic and “groove-based” dance music. “When we first met, he didn’t even own a distortion pedal,” laughs DOUG about his guitarist’s love of soul and R&B.

PUSH PULL songs like “True Believer” and “Buzzkill (Before You Say Goodbye)” show Hoobastank maturing from adolescent to adult relationships, often examining the difficulty of keeping alive the sexuality that fuels them.  “We Don’t Need the World” and “There Will Never Be Another” explore the protective bubble and the memories which bind two people together. DOUG’s lyrics to the headphones-worthy “Fallen Star were inspired by a memory of him watching television one night and seeing a military family of a soldier who had died in combat. It made him think of the brave men and women who serve and even more so now the parents of those who serve. Being a parent now it clicked, the unbelievable sacrifice made by both soldier and their families. “I wanted to say thank you” says DOUG.

With PUSH PULLHoobastank find themselves looking back to the future, combining the best of what brought them here and establishing their presence in the current pop-rock spectrum.

The tracklisting for PUSH PULL is as follows:
1. Don’t Look Away
2. Push Pull
3. More Beautiful
4. Head Over Heels

7. Better Left Unsaid

In Europe, Spring is approaching and the landscape is getting greener and greener! So it’s the best time to listen to some Irish Folk, even if it ´s coming from Hungary. What? Yes!
PADDY AND THE RATS are releasing their new single and video Castaway!.

The clip was shot last October on a stormy shore at the Algarve in Portugal and gives a good taste of what the album – being released, THIS FRIDAY on April 6th –  will  be!

Singer/bandleader Paddy says about the clip: “The Algarve is one of the most stunning and most natural costline of Europe so it was perfect to shoot the video. We wanted to feel like I’m truly on a desert island and there’s nowhere to go and noone to talk. While we were shooting I had to be in the cold ocean for hours long, walk without shoes all day long in the underbrush. And I realized, if I had to do this for years because I’m a castaway, that’s really not a nice thing even if there’s an amazing beach.  Nature is so much stronger than you. The lyric is an allegory. Sometimes you feel yourself so isolated in life if you were a castaway. But you always have to go on, like in the myth of Sisyphus. You know at some point your stone will fall back but you have roll it on again and again. You can never give up.

A motto that truly fits to the band! Their fifth album Riot City Outlaws is a bold step into a bright future boosted by the raw and powerful production by Grammy winner Cameron Webb (Motörhead, Megadeth, Social Distortion, Pennywise). Both Cameron and singer Paddy O`Reilly opted for a cool pop-punk approach in the vein of Green Day – overflowing with catchy choruses and dynamic up-tempo songs, Of course there are pirate party anthems like ‘Join the riot‘ and ‘One last ale‘, as well as shanties such as ‘Black Sails‘ and ‘Where Red Paints the Ocean‘ equally show the darker side of life on the Seven Seas. Tipsy ballads ‘Castaway‘ and ‘Another life‘ plus a healthy infusion of Irish influenced punk rock songs (‘Blow‘, ‘Aerolites‘) round off a grimy pirate party bringing unwashed pub glory straight to your merry home!

KOBRA explains the story behind the song:
“We’re so excited to release another brand spankin’ new taste of our hard rock infused metal! This track was one of the very first musical collaborations done at Hansen studios in Denmark. This song helped us nail down the heavy rock elements that would soon begin to lace its way through the sound of both  ‘Prevail I and II’. “Dear (insert your name here),
I cherish all the shadows of your past, even the darkest ones. Every time you try to run away it will only bring me closer. There are pieces you don’t like, hiding all the grace of being human I might find. Let Me Love You. “

What can I say?! This track has been hard to keep a secret for two years!! We hope you will also enjoy this very special video we’ve worked hard to create. With a fusion of Manga and live performance, we’ve really jumped in with both feet to bring to you ‘Let Me Love You’ in Japanese!!! Tanoshinde kudasai !!“
