Skeggs announce debut album ‘My Own Mess’

Skegss

Skegss return after being Up In The Clouds and get Smogged Out on their brand new single, released today.  Smogged Out is the second single lifted from their just-announced debut album My Own Mess which will be released on Friday September 7TH on Ratbag Records. My Own Mess features 15 brand new tracks showcasing Skegss’ brilliant brand of garage punk.

About the new album, Skegss comment “This (My Own Mess) is our first album. Fuck. We were in a state of non-reality in the studio, we didn’t leave and when it was done I didn’t feel conditioned to go back into the real world.”

Skegss – Ben Reed (vocals, guitar), Toby Cregan (bass) and Jonny Lani (drums) have charmed listeners for the past few years with their warm surf-punk sound, after releasing the Holiday Food EP in April 2017, featuring the tracks Spring Has Sprung and Got On My Skateboard.

Available to stream, download and on CD, My Own Mess will also be released on gatefold 1LP Yellow vinyl complete with a 28 page zine exclusive to the vinyl, designed by illustrious illustrator and unofficial fourth member Jack Irvin. The band’s own webstore will also hold a number of ultra-limited merch bundles and once they are sold out, they’ll be gone forever.

After selling out tours across the country, the band have made a name for themselves with energetic, ripping live performances, garnering praise from The Music for their “infectious” on-stage chemistry and Moshcam who asserted they “seem to have some sort of hypnotic effect over their fans.” Skegss have played at festivals across the country and overseas including a headline slot at Sounds of the Suburbs, Spilt Milk and Groovin’ The Moo to name a few.

Following their Splendour In The Grass set next weekend, the band will be back to the UK and Europe for another 17 date tour to close out the year and are already hinting at another Australian run before too long.
