Sydney act Undercast have released their new single ‘Let Go‘ today, along with a new music video produced by Kieran Ellis-Jones of Crystal Arrow (The Hard Aches, Stand Atlantic). The song was produced by Nathaniel Sherwood at Maple Studios, and co-written with Jean-Paul Fung (Birds of Tokyo, Last Dinosaurs).
Cutting their teeth supporting intentional acts As It Is (UK), Cute is What We Aim For(US), Real Friends (US) & Knuckle Puck (US) over the past 18 months, the band has amassed a loyal fanbase across the country. Following the release of previous single ‘Loiter’, which reached over 100,000 streams online, the group took towards a new more rock-based direction for the new song.
Vocalist Michael Cross explains “Our music tastes had changed and evolved, and we collectively felt that it was time to take on a new direction. We scrapped everything we had done and began writing a new song with a different influence than our past releases. We instantly knew that it was a step in the right direction to where we wanted to be. It was different to anything I had sung before but as the demo pieced together, it became evident that this was a style we could really sink our teeth into.”
Undercast have also announced a hometown single release show at Waywards in Newtown on Thursday April 12. Support will be provided by Speakeasy, Clove and Backyard Science.
