Dark and neon the clip shows the band performing their new song in a dilapidated warehouse surrounded with junk and smoke. They perform with ferocity and angst. Watching singer Sam Thomas writhing on the mic in turmoil and the band rip apart their instruments is almost emotionally draining viewing. This viceral performance is beautifully counterbalanced with the soft pastel wash of lights, smoke and VHS treatment of the clip. It adds a beautiful visual representation of the dichotomy at the core of the songs theme of head and heart pulling you in two different directions.
Drawing from synth new wave bands of the 80s and modern post-rock bands THE AVENUE’S new EP ‘NAMES’ featuring lead single, Love, showcases the bands undisputable progression and ability to take the post punk attitude of their debut EP and meld it with new influences, ultimately carving out a niche that can not be replicated. Reminiscent of U2, The 1975 and Kings Of Leon the band have quickly gained a reputation for catchy pop numbers that have serious weight behind them.
