Tim Price, Australian heavy music specialist and The Faction Radio founder, has jumped on board to curate a dedicated heavy music program at this year’s Australian Music Week, which takes place in Sydney’s Cronulla Beach 7-9 November.
Price will select Australia’s best new hard rock & metal acts to showcase on Thursday night, 8 November and run two one-hour panel sessions on Friday 9th covering all things heavy with leading heads in the business, including:
Graham Nixon (Resist Records – Parkway Drive, Polaris)
Rachel Jones-Williams (Caroline Australia)
Chris Maric (Maric Media)
Emmy Mack (Redhook, Music Feeds)
With four coveted showcase spots up for grabs to support a headline act (to be announced soon), we are extending artist applications to hard rock & metal acts only at australianmusicweek.com.
“I am really stoked to be on board to help curate a presence for heavy music at Australian Music Week across a night of heavy music showcasing and panels featuring great minds in the industry,” said Tim, who heads up Collision Course PR out of Brisbane and started The Faction Radio as a place for heavy music to be heard.
“We are going to break down topics like “Rock is Dead” – a notion that really flies in the face of the climate here in Australia with festivals and bands. People often forget that rock and metal has ALWAYS come from the outsiders – and we kinda like it that way.
“The biggest upsets and biggest surprises come from rock and metal when something truly great shines through, so I am kinda thinking these panels and showcase really are going to be similar to Lars Ulrich back in the day, jumping out of the line in a press interview and yelling “Metal Up Your Ass!”
