Instrumental solo artist Valentin The Mad has released “In Memory”, a melodic metal instrumental track dedicated to late Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington.
The track is a part of his ongoing “Deadly Obsession” solo project.
On the creation of the track: “I began working on it in June of 2017. I was experimenting with ideas, riffs, figuring out the arrangements. At one point I hit a writing block and went back to working on a different track (called Losing the Sense of Time, already released).
A few weeks later came that Thursday when I heard the news of Chester’s passing. It was a massive shock and it hit me hard. It felt a lot like losing someone I’ve known for years, and in a way it was that. Linkin Park is the band that reignited my love for rock music back in 2003, I’ve been listening to them non stop back then and the early albums have remained a significant part of my life’s soundtrack throughout the years.
Following the news of his passing and the massive amounts of Linkin Park I was listening to in those days I picked up my bass, went back to writing and the missing pieces of the track were filled. The music was emotional from the very start, but after that, it took an entirely different meaning.”
Valentin The Mad is a lead guitarist – solo artist from Haifa, Israel.
The “Deadly Obsession” solo project he is currently working on is instrumental music, centered around the electric guitar and the guitar solo. The music in the project varies from soft rock, through prog to heavy-thrash metal with influences from other musical genres as well.
One of his biggest influences is Metallica. Kirk Hammet’s guitar solos made him pick up the electric guitar at the age of 15 and the balance of heavy riffs, leads and solos in their instrumentals greatly influenced Valentin’s approach to writing music.
