As part of WAMFest presented by Act-Belong-Commit, we’re pleased to reveal the 2018 WAMAwards nominees!
Leading the noms this year is Albany-born singer-songwriter Carla Geneve, with her hard-hitting live show and relatable lyricism earning her a whopping seven award nominations – including Best Folk Act, Best Rock Act, Best Single and Best Guitarist. Hyclass, Jack Davies, Jacob Diamond, Jamilla, Kate Pass, and Stella Donnelly all follow with four award nominations apiece. With Alana Macpherson, Feels, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, and Spacey Jane coming in with three each. Please join us in congratulating all the talented 2018 WAMAwards nominees revealed (many of which are set to play as part of WAMFest Live).
Also revealed are this year’s sensational Kiss My Camera finalists, whose award-nominated photographs encapsulate some of the best music moments from the past year. This year’s winning shots will be screened as part of the WAMAwards, as well as across outdoor screens like the Northbridge Piazza, Perth Cultural Centre and Yagan Square Digital Tower in the leadup to WAMFest.
While over 300 industry judges decide who will take out top prize across the 30 award categories, we’re also calling on WA music fans to have their say; with WAMAwards public voting now open. This year you can vote for all your local favourites across five public award categories, including Most Popular Live Act, Most Popular New Act, and Most Popular Venue. Don’t dilly-dally, though, head to https://www.wamfest.com.au/public-voting/ to cast your vote before 5pm Thursday 11 October.
Winners will be revealed Thursday 1 November at the annual WAMAwards, which this year debuts at the swanky Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel Perth. With the WAMi’s prestigious new home boasting luxe-vibes and first-class facilities, this year’s high-quality affair will be a true reflection of the immense talent recognised throughout the awards. Guests are encouraged to leave the ripped jeans at home and dial up the style for a lively evening celebrating WA music’s very best.
“What a fantastic and diverse list of WA talent. We are blessed here in WA with such a high-quality music community and each year the job of shortlisting from within that community is really hard. Over the years we’ve constantly strived to elevate the state’s annual music awards to reflect this talent. We’re pleased to see this year’s WAMi’s hosted at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Perth and look forward to celebrating in style with all this year’s deserving nominees.”
