Wither’s rise has been sudden and vicious, their debut release, Nothing To No One shattered expectations of the whispered super group’s talent. Now, to further fan the fires of anticipation Wither are dropping the harrowing ‘Marionette’ and announcing debut EP “Rot And I” for release on October 22nd.
Marionette is the first taste of ‘Rot And I’, the conceptual EP telling the story of protagonist Tom and the relationship with his alter ego Rot. Tom and Rot’s story unfolds over the duration of the EP as the external forces around Tom become a battleground in his war within against Rot.
Frontman David De La Hoz further explains; “Marionette is the third chapter in this story. It captures the moment that Tom’s sense of security and self-worth crumbles to pieces around him leaving him weak and vulnerable to letting Rot (the dark part of his personality) take the reins”.
Wither’s debut music video for Marionette goes even deeper to flesh out the story of Rot And I, giving further life to the band’s artistic vision.
Engineered, mixed and mastered by the band’s guitarist and producer Jamie Marinos (Alpha Wolf, Arkive, Pridelands, Thornhill) ‘Rot And I’ is the culmination of Wither’s vision and hint of their intent. Honest and creative story-telling combined with technical precision and exceptional musicality has turned what started as a jam band, into a creative and artistic powerhouse.
With their EP on the horizon, Wither will be playing their first show at Melbourne’s The Workers Club on Saturday November 3rd, bringing local heavyweights Advocates, Anticline and Above, Below (SYD) along for the gripping first live taste of Wither.
