All The Colours return with intoxicating rock single ‘Tear It Down’ & tour dates

All The Colours

Tear it down and start again,” goes the infectious thorough-line of All The Colours’ new single; a fitting return from one of Melbourne’s beloved rock bands, ‘Tear It Down’ heralds a new chapter. One marked by voracity and a hunger for more insatiable alt-rock sounds.

Together, the trio have over 20 years of music making history under their belts, each coming to the table with their own treasure trove of experiences; Josh Moriarty with Miami Horror, Jonathan Toogood with Young Dead Actors and Josh Mann with Impossible Cinema. Heading into the second half of 2019 with this new single, All The Colours look towards the release of their new album Vol. 3, as well as highly anticipated shows in Melbourne and Sydney into August – opportunities to road test the new material while also reconnecting with that sweating, heaving live realm.

‘Tear It Down’, with its strong indie guitars and vocal harmonies reminiscent of early Interpol and Nirvana, highlights the strong dynamic All The Colours have fashioned for themselves over the course of two studio albums and years of touring between them. The end result is slick, finessed and goes down like the smoothest of whiskeys.

Produced by Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor, mixed by Cian Riordan (Mini Mansions, Beth Ditto), mastered by the Grammy-nominated Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, Vampire Weekend) and recorded out at Vox Studios in Hollywood, ‘Tear It Down’ is another defiant offering from a band most definitely in the pocket and feeling each beat, riding each groove. “‘Tear It Down’ is a classic four-chord alt-rock soft verse and heavy chorus anthem, taking themes from Pixies and Nirvana and realising them through the lens of the modern era. Chris Taylor adds his production prowess, knowing when to let things get dangerous and unhinged and when to let the song sparkle and shine.” All The Colours

Already, All The Colours have teased the direction of Vol. 3, with the release of singles ‘You Know, I Don’t’ and ‘Let Me Drown’, each falling in line with a leather-clad rock aesthetic yet, as with ‘Tear It Down’, they shine with individuality. Bristling music layered with melodic charm, All The Colours are gearing up for their strongest release yet. Bolstering the release of their latest single, the band has also unveiled the ‘Tear It Down’ music video, directed by Zachary McSweeney.

Grainy, striking and confronting, the visuals are a direct representation of the ideas of cataclysmic destruction All The Colours put front and centre on record. “The song is about the impending doom of society, how if we don’t change things soon and break down some of our current systems, we will descend into chaos. I’m a bit of a pessimist in my darker moments and this song was a way for me to express those feelings. I’m definitely as guilty as the next person of propagating a flawed system but I think writing songs in this vein is a way to make myself culpable and force myself to actually practice what I preach!” Joshua Moriarty, All The Colours.

Having earned their stripes as a group supporting the likes of Eagles of Death Metal and Birds of Tokyo, All The Colours live and breathe for the slightly unhinged nature of a live and raucous show.

Luckily for us, we don’t have to wait long to experience it for ourselves. All The Colours are on tour in Melbourne and Sydney to keep fans warm this winter – let ‘Tear It Down’ and Vol.3 in.
