Gippsland, Victoria metalcore legends ATLVS has just announced their debut EP Memoir! Produced, Co-written/Mixed & Mastered by Ionei Heckenberg (Ocean Sleeper) at Zanari Records, the EP will be released into the world on Friday June 14 – with pre-orders going live on Monday May 13 at http://ffm.to/altvs_memoirEP. The first cut from the record also drops today – a hard-out metalcore banger entitled ‘Sick‘, that comes with a slick video (shot & edited by Martin Wood Imagery) to boot.
Lead Vocalist Jesse Buckingham says that the new single Sick is “…an analysis of the behaviour I have and still do exhibit in times of limited perspective. Falling back onto old habits as a means of supporting current issues is no way of moving forward, and it is more or less an apology to the friends and family I have hurt in my pursuit to find who I am.”
Buckingham went on to talk about the EP Memoir, saying that “…the main themes of the Memoir EP are memory and the subjective nature of truth. We conjure memories to suit the mythology we create within ourselves and share with the people around us as a means to connect and relate. We all engineer a reality that is best suited to our collective and individual preference, and that, like everything in this life, comes at a cost.”
Formed in mid-to-late 2017, ATLVS has 3 released three singles to date – Epiphany, Insinuate and Love – which have been streamed all over the world and included on Spotify’s “Homegrown and Heavy” playlist and Apple Music’s A-List Metal.
Not only that, ATLVS has been featured on triple j’s Short Fast Loud, triple j unearthed and The Faction Radio, as well as radio stations in the U.S and the U.K, leading them into a sold out Debut show playing alongside Ocean Sleeper, Mirrors and Diamond Construct and then followed up with shows with Drown This City, Rumours, Dream On Dreamer, Aburden and After Touch. They destroyed the stage at Takedown Fest alongside Pridelands, Windwaker, The Gloom In The Corner, Wraith, 23/19 and Mauvais.
Continuing about the EP’s reflective themes and ideas, Buckingham says that “What we do in self preservation can often be misconstrued by those with less of an understanding of the events which inspired our stories and the lies we have all told ourselves to get through another sunrise. Throughout Memoir there are songs that touch on anger, loss, regret, getting lost in what was and underestimating the damage that can be done if we hold for too long onto the beliefs we held in the past, and take too seriously the mistakes we have made. It is flawed, it is imperfect, but ultimately it is proof that we are accountable for our own shortcomings.”
ATLVS’ Memoir EP will be released into the world on Friday June 14 – with pre-orders going live on Monday May 13 at http://ffm.to/altvs_memoirEP. Single ‘Sick’ is available now for streaming and purchase on all good digital outlets.
