Blues at Bridgetown announce first lineup for 2019

The Original Chicago Blues All Stars (

Pack your bags, swags and comfy gladrags, because Western Australia’s beloved springtime musical adventure, Blues at Bridgetown, returns for 2019 with a weekend’s worth of melodic gifts and new memories to make from Friday-Sunday, November 8-10.

The Original Chicago Blues All Stars (USA) came together in the 1970s as the touring band for late blues legend Willie Dixon and are now led by his son, Freddie, on bass.  He is joined by fellow-founding-member, Dr Jimmy Lee Tillman on drums and guitarists Doktu Rhute Muuzic and Michael Damani. With a new line-up, the All Stars are carrying on the legacy of the founders of Chicago Blues and taking it around the world.

A favourite on Australian stages for over 30 years, Diesel has just released Sunset Suburbia Vol. 1, the first EP of a trilogy project which will lead to a new album in 2020. “I’ve really enjoyed recording the EPs as it elongates the recording process, allowing for each EP to take on a uniqueness,” the singer/guitarist says. “I’ve always been a bit bummed when getting to the end of making a record, and this in a way delays gratification, making three mini-albums on the way to an LP.” Expect to hear these new tunes as well as fan-favourites at Bridgetown.

Rarely has an Australian band received as much consistent and widespread acclaim from critics and music fans alike as the Bondi Cigars. With 10 albums under their belt, and over 30 years of constant touring, this award-winning quartet have well and truly worked their way into Australia’s musical heart.

People’s Choice Award Winners at Blues at Bridgetown for two years running, 19-Twenty have become one of the festival’s favourite bands, truly entertaining the young and old and everyone in between. An infectious riff and groove-based blue-billy-grass-rockin’-roots band, 19-Twenty are set to win our hearts all over again.

Lighting up audiences during their last visit to Bridgetown in 2017, Hussy Hicks are a tour de force featuring Leesa Gentz’ powerhouse soul vocals and Julz Parker’s revered guitar skills. Hussy Hicks have honed their sonic dexterity over the past 12 years with six studio albums, multiple industry awards and more than 1,000 live shows under their belts, from Australia’s biggest blues, roots and folk festivals to 15 plus international tours, which now sell out across Europe.

Aiding and abetting this musical feast will be Z-Star Trinity, Ezra Lee, Unb’Rocken (Bali), Jan Preston, Bonnie K and The Bonafides, Tom Fisher and The Layabouts, Minnie Marks, Simone Craddock Collective, Blue Child Collective, Tracey Barnett, Grand Casual, Kat Wilson with many more to be announced, playing at the iconic Blue Owl’s Nest, Festival Club and Geegelup venues.

Tickets are now on sale through bluesatbridgetown.com.au/festival-tickets, including a great value Weekend Ticket & Camping package and Weekend Festival Tickets for Early Bird buyers.
