Blues At Bridgetown announce second artist lineup

Russell Morris

The scent of spring is in the air and with it comes a hint of good times to come. Among them is WA’s favourite springtime musical escape, Blues at Bridgetown, and it gives us great pleasure to announce the second round of artists bringing their goodness for a weekend’s worth of amazing music from Friday-Sunday, November 8-10.

In this topsy turvy modern world it seems more than ever we need The Real Thing and so it is that the great Russell Morris returns for a record-breaking seventh consecutive year! A true Bridgetown favourite, this year the Aussie icon comes armed with songs from his new album, Black And Blue Heart, co-produced by Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam) and Bernard Fanning (Powderfinger), plus the classics – both old and new – that we all know and love. With a staggering 50-year career and counting, Russell Morris continues to find unique ways to challenge himself creatively.

Loved for his crowd-frenzied shows and blistering guitar playing, Ash Grunwald has long had critics and fans raving about his unique blend of roots, beats and a whole lotta groove. His last appearance Blues at Bridgetown in 2017 was an absolute belter, and with a new blues-fused album, Mojo, (featuring collaborations with Joe Bonamassa, The Teskey Brothers, Kasey Chambers and more) out now, Ash Grunwald continues to be at the top of his game. On top of that he’s just published his first book, Surf By Day, Jam By Night. The man’s unstoppable!

Like Russell Morris, Blue Shaddy are returning heroes to Blues at Bridgetown. This band are part of the fabric of this festival and clearly have a place in the heart of the Bridgetown massive. Always a festival highlight, we’re proud to have them back.

A child of the outback and a ‘Kimberley dreamer’, Kelly Auty is first, and foremost, an entertainer. Living now in Melbourne, Kelly is renowned as a powerful vocalist and an inspiring performer, delivering outstanding shows in her distinctive style across blues, gospel, R&B, soul, rock, country and French chanson genres.

Hailing from the Sunshine Coast, Little Billie has a distinctive sound rooted in the blues, with a gritty rockabilly edge, and a pumping live vibe. Formed in 2015 by dynamic frontwoman Tahnee Sarah (Billie) and featuring killer blues lead guitar, punchy double bass, and hard-hitting drums, Little Billie takes no prisoners, and their energetic live performances are undeniably powerful.

Also coming along for the ride will be Toby Beard, Moondog, Bambuseae Rhythm Section, Dr Charlie, Lightnin’ Jack Band, Lost Dog, Tanya Ransom, Applejack & Moonshine, Blackwood Rising, Martin Lee Cropper and Carpark Social who will join with the previously announced…

The Original Chicago Blues All Stars (USA), Diesel, Bondi Cigars, 19-Twenty Hussy Hicks, Z-Star Trinity, Ezra Lee, Un’broken (Bali), Jan Preston, Bonnie K and The Bonafides, Tom Fisher and The Layabouts, Minnie Marks, Simone Craddock Collective, Blue Child Collective, Tracey Barnett, Grand Casual, Kat Wilson with more to be revealed, playing at the iconic Blue Owl’s Nest, Festival Club and Geegelup venues.
