Melbourne progressive metallers, Ironstone burst onto the Australian heavy music scene in 2018 and quickly earned a reputation for their slick, energetic live show and infectious grooves.
Today, the band return with another monster track called Bound featuring their new vocalist, Dan Charlton.
Bound was mixed and mastered by Windaker drummer, Chris Lalic
‘Bound’ laments the consequences of losing control of your own path. The lyrics describe a scenario of being swept away by someone else’s agenda, and the realisation that not everyone has your best interests at heart. It’s about having the courage to break free from a relationship that seems to always favour the other person, and that sometimes you have to fight for control and independence.
The video for Bound features black and white studio footage with heavy shadows, representing the darker side of relationships and reminding us that not everything is always as it appears in the light. The video also features a theme of rope, an obvious metaphor for being restricted, and a contemporary dancer who signifies the joy of breaking free.
Ironstone incorporate a range of genres into their mix. Atmospheric textures, the duality of soaring and guttural vocals, djent driven – syncopated guitars and of course, epic solos. The result is a unique and modern progressive metal sound.
The band recently welcomed new vocalist Dan Charlton to the fold. Dan has injected fresh life into the band, allowing them to head in a more progressive direction. The band is now brothers Edward and Perry Warren on lead guitar & vocals and bass respectively, with Aidan Kalms on rhythm guitar & keys and Jackson Whyte on drums and vocals.
