American Death Metal band Deicide just wrapped up this Saturday their spring tour in New York City’s The Gramercy Theatre. They toured together with Origin, Jungle Rot and The Absence with a run consisting of eighteen shows starting in Texas and California, after a quick run through the mostly religious heartland of America before coming to the East coast for dates in Canada and the Northeast. The tour was in the support of their 12th studio album called “Overtures Of Blasphemy” that was released back in September of last year.

The Florida veteran extreme metal act that has been around for three decades is known for controversies. Their songs thematic is largely about Satanism, anti-Christianity and blasphemy and still  with this they are a band who is not slowing down. Their latest album delivers the same old Deicide that fans are accustomed to hear, with the first song on the record called “One With Satan”.

The show in New York City was sold out. Fans from across the city converged to The Gramercy Theatre to get lost in Blasphemy.

The stage was set up simple and by the band themselves with some help from the venue, which is a more regular sight at local shows. All members did sound check themselves and nodded with approval to stage manager asking “Just let me know if you ready?” And ready they were!

They opened with their classics “Dead By Dawn”, “When Satan Rules His World” and “Scars Of The Crucifix”. From the latest album the band played only two songs, “Seal The Tomb Below” and “Excommunicated”.

Deicide still consists of the two founding members Steve Asheim on drums and vocalist Glen Benton who also plays bass. They were joined on stage by Kevin Quirion and Chris Cannella on guitars and they all played a solid set. It was loud, with purpose and technically sound. Filled to the capacity, the venue became their evil shrine for the night.

They finished the set with “Sacrificial Suicide” and “Lunatic Of God’s Creation”. It was a great night for Death Metal fans.
