With Pure Noise Records currently killing it with their heavy roster of hardcore bands, a tour featuring a selection of them was a no brainer and that loaded tour hit the Bottomlounge in Chicago on a warm Thursday night.
Newcomers Year Of The Knife and Sanction both opened the show with their different brands of hardcore and got the crowd going. Next up was Terror who are legends of hardcore. Frontman Scott Vogel had the crowd going nuts even if he disapproved of the barricade stopping his favorite love other than hardcore, stagedives. With a set featuring songs from their long discography Terror still bring it harder than most bands regardless of age.
Counterparts seemed to be a fan favorite of the evening, drawing in a crazy crowd from the moment they stepped on stage. With their brand of heavy metalcore with hardcore influences, security had their hands full as surfers came flying over the barricade at an alarming rate and the crowd made sure to scream the words back at frontman Brendan Murphy louder than he could scream them.
Closing out the night were legends of the genre Stick To Your Guns who have had a long, interesting history in the scene. With songs spanning 5 albums, Stick To Your Guns show their progression from the heavier with “This Is More” to the more melodic “Nobody”. With crowdsurfers, singalongs, pits and everything in between, the band was in top form with the energy the crowd was giving back to them. This is a tour to make sure to catch while it still is going.
