Los Angeles hardcore punk act Section H8 set to release Ep “Phase One”

Section H8

Los Angeles-based hardcore punk outfit SECTION H8 prepares for the official release of their damaging debut EP, Phase One, through Flatspot Records in late March. The label has posted new details and preorders for the vinyl version of the EP, which is now available on all digital services, as the band begins a short run of West Coast tour dates today.

SECTION H8’s brutalizing Phase One unloads five tracks in under eight-and-a-half minutes, a point-blank blast of unrelenting, monstrous hardcore rage. The EP was recorded on Devils Night 2018 at The Pit by Taylor Young (Nails, Xibalba, Twitching Tongues) and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios (Full Of Hell, Iron Lung, Violent Reaction). The record features guest synth and samples by Ryan George and completed with artwork by Tyler Bradberry and Mexi.

Following its initial independent release late last year, Flatspot Records now presents Phase One through official digital distribution on all platforms as well as 7″ with two variants, 300 on grey vinyl and 100 on red/black splatter. The vinyl sees release March 29th; merch bundles and other preorder options can be found at the label’s webshop HERE, and the EP is now available on all digital services.

SECTION H8 embarks on a run of West Coast tour dates today, February 19th, in Tijuana, with shows in Long Beach on Thursday, February 21st, and Los Angeles this Friday the 22nd. They’ll share the stage with the likes of Death Threat, Hangman, Dead Heat, and Regulate, Hands Ov God, and more along the way. A release show for the EP and other tour dates are also in the planning stages.

Formed in early 2018, SECTION H8 has already torn a hole in the hardcore/punk community, dubbed, the “Best New Hardcore Band Of 2018” by No Echo. Comprised of musicians who collectively play with the likes of Downpresser, Minus, Product Of Waste, Human Garbage, Nomads, Furious Styles, and others acts, the outfit is inspired by brutal American hardcore acts like Cold As Life and early Madball, metal and grind acts including Carnivore and Driller Killer, and Japanese hardcore punk acts like Judgement and Death Side.

Coalescing these influences into an energetic and merciless style of groove-carved hardcore punk, the band’s fury is fueled by their pessimistic outlook on society and the future of humanity. Their lyrical content depicts an impending apocalypse and humankind’s dedication to conflict, its unstoppable urge to destroy itself any way that it can — be it war or substance abuse or mankind’s inherit selfishness. It’s a soundtrack to the end times, in which we are now living.
